CES: Magellan Intros PND for Commercial Drivers
This week at the CES show, Magellan introduced the RoadMate Commercial 5190T GPS, a personal Navigation Device (PND) designed specifically for commercial vehicles i the United States.
The 5190T comes with a large 5” color high-definition touchscreen display, bluetooth, a built-in speaker with an audio level up to 93dB. the device comes in a IPX-50 dustproof casing and has an A/V input to connect external devices such as a back-up camera. At the software level, the device offers commercial vehicle customized routing, multi-stop planning and route optimization capabilities. A Multiple Driver Login function is also available. Hours of service and driving status for multiple drivers can be logged, tracking hours and state mileage for IFTA fuel records. Logs can then be exported for compliance reporting. The Magellan Fleet Management interface tool kit also enables any Fleet Management solution to work with the device.
Additionally, the 5190T GPS includes Free Lifetime Traffic Alerts with real-time traffic information.
The device has a retail price of $379.99 and will be available in Spring 2012 at consumer electronics stores and mass merchants, as well as online. It comes with a cradle, a cradle mount adapter plate and screws, a windshield mount, a vehicle power adapter and a USB cable. Tuesday, January 10th 2012
