Australia: Telstra selects Garmin to power Whereis Navigator
Australian wireless operator Telstra has chosen Garmin Mobile to power Whereis Navigator for selected GPS-enabled mobile phones. Telstra has more than 9.3 million mobile customers, including 3.3 million 3G services.

Sensis, one of Australia’s leading online information resource, and a wholly owned Telstra subsidiary, will provide the point of interest information and other dynamic content for the navigation application. In addition to turn-by-turn directions, Whereis Navigator offers fixed speed and red-light camera warnings while driving.

Gregan McMahon, group manager of Sensis Mobile, said: “Combining Garmin’s leading satellite navigation with Sensis’ comprehensive mapping points of interest and other content takes Whereis Navigator to the next level,” says McMahon.

French navigation provider Webraska was the previous partner of Telstra for off-board navigation.
