Apple Partners with 9 Car Makers to Bring a “Siri“ Button on the Steering Wheel
In a keynote speech today at the Apple Worldwide Developer conference, Scott Forstall, senior vice president of iOS Software announced that Siri, the voice recognition-based iOS assistant, will get its own button on the steering wheel of nine carmakers.

BMW, GM, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi, Toyota, Chrysler and Honda are part of this development called “Eyes Free“.

On a single press on a steering wheel button Siri will be activated on the iPhone - probably via Bluetooth and ready to answer your questions.

What is interesting here is that Siri on iOS 6 has learned new tricks. Now It can open apps as well as launch a destination on the turn-by-turn navigation software freshly announced by Apple.

No date of availability in specific car has been announced at this stage, but it is interesting to see that Apple has its own agenda when it comes to the connected car.
