Appello: 30m Users, Only 1/3 in Europe
Location-based services provider Appello today announced it has reached more than 30 million users of its services.

“With a fierce acceleration of new users during 2012 we have succeeded to increase our user base with an average of 1 million new user every month,” added Marina Davarinou, Head of Marketing at the Swedish company.

Appello is well know for supplying its services to European wireless operators such as T-Mobile, TIM, A1, KPN and TeliaSonera. However in the statistics disclosed today to GPS Business News it appears that its European customers account for only 37% of its total user base (see below).

Born in 2003, Appello has been initially a provider of turn-by-turn navigation solutions. More recently the company has started to offer new type location-based services such as NeverLate (read here).

More services are said to be in preparation. “(our) portfolio of services including Wisepilot and NeverLate will soon be expanded with new innovative services in order to meet the growing demand of LBS,“ wrote the company in a press release today.

At the end of 2012 Appello was ranked by Deloitte (Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA index) as the third fastest growing software company in Sweden and the 47th in EMEA.
