Amazon (Android) App Store Opens in EU 5 this Summer
Amazon today announced the opening of its Android app store in United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain this summer. Developers can already submit apps for these regions.

So far Amazon only had its Android app store running in the United States. Even if volumes are much smaller than Google Play, this app store has demonstrated its interest. Several studies have pointed out that developers are making on average more money per user than on Google-operated Android app store.

As an example, according to data from Flurry Analytics (February 2012 - data coming from 11 million daily app users), Amazon generated nearly four times more revenue per user from in-app purchases than Google Play did.

One of the reasons for that is that Amazon is leveraging its existing customer’s installed base and their credit cards on file, to offer one click purchase of apps.

Amazon is also doing a better job in terms of app discoverability using its proven experience in online sales optimisation.

Furthermore the Seattle company can cross sell items, i.e. offering apps similar to products searched by customers in the store.
