ABI Research Forecasts 73M Telematics-Enabled Commercial Vehicles by 2020
The commercial telematics industry is set for very strong growth in the next five years, according to ABI Research that forecasts a penetration in 73 million vehicles by 2020.

Nowadays the biggest players on the market are targeting 1 million vehicles under monitoring as their next milestone, both via their own commercial growth and targeted acquisitions.

"We are witnessing the emergence of a very dynamic ecosystem characterized by cut-throat competition, aggressive marketing, mergers and acquisitions galore, and high levels of equity investment with high expectations about quick returns. This results in accelerating awareness about the many benefits of telematics far beyond the traditional asset tracking, diagnostics and fuel saving paradigms," said Dominique Bonte,VP and GM of the telematics practice at ABI Research.

The research firm also expects future disruption in the market with driverless business vehicles coming into play, such autonomous trucks and self-driving taxis.
